Chapter 4-1
The unfolding clash involves DigiPolice's Deputy Squad Leader Shuu Yulin and Tartarus. Their respective Mega-level Digimon, Dorugoramon and Ouryumon, converge. Cargodramon reinforcements, led by Satsuki and Numemon, join the chaotic scene. Misunderstandings arise as Gatekeepers perceive the DigiPolice as foes.
Yulin entrusts Satsuki to lead on the battlefield due to her prolonged mindlink with Numemon. Eiji and Loogamon arrive, encountering an expanded Commandramon squad under Satsuki's command. The tension escalates when the Commandramon units target Eiji, necessitating swift action. In a strategic move, Satsuki utilizes Cargodramon to encircle Loogamon, employing gatling guns and tail rotors. But Marvin and his Airdramon arrive to rescue them.
Chapter 4-2
Marvin takes on the responsibility of leading a mission targeting a DigiPolice platoon, with a specific focus on keeping them away from Tartarus. The operation is meticulously planned in two phases. Phase 1 involves inciting an attack on the Gateway among code crackers and Digimon living in the Wall Slum. Eiji, under the leadership of Kosuke, is assigned the task of inciting the citizens to attack during this phase. In Phase 2, the plan is to draw the DigiPolice into a fight on two fronts, specifically a critical battle between Yulin and Kosuke in their powerful Mega forms. Marvin deploys bot-controlled Espimon and strategically commands a force of Commandramon led by Mekanorimon. Satsuki, leveraging her Mindlinker strategy, commands Hi-Commandramon to counter Loogarmon's advances, led by Sakurada and Tachibana.
As the conflict intensifies, Eiji faces the challenge of ensuring the cracking of the Gateway proceeds smoothly without interference from the DigiPolice. The chapter underscores the importance of the ongoing battle between Yulin and Kosuke, hinting at its critical role in determining the overall success of the mission. Additionally, the evolution of Loogarmon into Soloogarmon adds a new dimension to the unfolding events in the Digital World. The detailed descriptions of the Digimon's forms, including Soloogarmon's humanoid features and powerful weaponry, contribute to the richness of the narrative. The chapter concludes with Soloogarmon taking on its ultimate form, showing their resolve to save their friends Leon and Pulsemon.
Chapter 4-3
Soloogarmon, an Ultimate-level Dark Beast Virus Digimon, wielded its massive mace with prowess against Hi-Commandramon. Despite their resilience, Hi-Commandramon's shield shattered under the relentless assault. The adversaries regrouped, revealing themselves as mindlinkers and prepared formidable weaponry. Eiji, a skilled code cracker, grappled with the consequences of revealing the mindlinkers' identity, not wanting to cause them to go DMIA. Soloogarmon's powerful strike, using Vanargand, finally brought Hi-Commandramon to their knees. This event emphasized Eiji's success in mindlinking with an Ultimate-level Digimon, solidifying Eiji's ascension to S-class status.
In a tense confrontation, Yulin, known as the Crossroads Witch, faced off against Kosuke. Kosuke, attempting to pierce Yulin's emotional armor, accused her of abandoning Saya. He acknowledges her suffering, recognizing that she sought to move forward by trying to forget the pain. Kosuke suggests that preventing further cases of DMIA mattered more to Yulin than financial gains. In the face of Yulin's disbelief at the apparent equality between Ouryumon and Dorugoramon, Kosuke challenges her disappointment. He suggests that Yulin, accustomed to being superior, might have higher compatibility levels and longer mindlink capabilities with her partner Digimon. Kosuke's declaration to put a hex on Yulin and save Saya indicates his unwavering determination. He reveals the existence of the Sacred Chalice, a legendary relic in the Digital World that lies down in the Depths, in a sector of old code, and expresses his commitment to finding it with the help of Dorugoramon. As the conflict escalated, Kosuke declared the potential consequences of his demise for Saya. Dorugoramon, Kosuke's partner Digimon, intensified the confrontation, tearing a significant part from Ouryumon and overpowering them. The stage was set for a climactic moment as Dorugoramon unleashed an attack.
Chapter 4-4
In the midst of the intense battle, Ouryumon's twin blades fell to the ground as its wings broke, sending it plummeting towards the networked seas, crashing into the Gateway. The impact left Ouryumon unconscious on the ground, and Yulin was knocked out deep inside the DigiCore. Unexpectedly, Ouryumon and Dorugoramon both reverted to their Rookie states. Kosuke, alongside his partner Dorumon, took quick action to restrain Ryudamon using specialized software, emphasizing that the Digicore is intact. Satsuki and Yulin had laid out specific agreements before the mission, including Satsuki taking command, maintaining Numemon in their Champion form, and ordering a retreat if Yulin and Ouryumon faced defeat.
As the team prepared for the main event, Dorumon explained the plan to crack the Gateway by utilizing prototype Digimon of Data, Vaccine, and Virus types simultaneously. Dorumon clarifies that Digimon with these interfaces are termed prototype Digimon, based on an older version of the Digital World. Dorumon emphasizes that being older doesn't imply inferiority, these outdated interfaces create a significant vulnerability in the Digital World's security. Drawing parallels to the security breaches represented by the vortexes, Tartarus explains their plan to infiltrate areas beyond the system administrator's sight. Dorumon details the requirements for cracking the Gateway: three keys in the form of prototype Digimon—Data, Vaccine, and Virus types—present simultaneously. Eiji recalls the hololized objects in DDL's lobby representing each type. Dorumon identifies himself as the Data type, the restrained Ryudamon as the Vaccine type, and Loogamon as the Virus type. Tartarus will manage the Gateway's cracking, with the prototype Digimon serving as intermediaries. They stress the necessity for these Digimon to be capable of digivolving to their Ultimate forms. Loogamon, Dorumon, and the restrained Ryudamon position themselves in a triangle formation, with a hololized Kosuke at its center, ready to embark on this critical phase of Operation Tartarus.
Marvin took control of Chaosdramon, a formidable Machine, Mega-level, Virus Digimon, steering it toward the center of the Gateway area. Despite its volatile nature, Marvin was struggling to control it with software tools. With preparations in place, Kosuke issued the command to "Crack Gateway," marking the commencement of Operation Tartarus: Phase 3.
Chapter 4-5
Kosuke is in a critical situation, attempting to crack the Gateway using three prototype Digimon. The last attempt saw Dorumon's Ultimate form stalling at 30%. Other members of the SoC hit their mindlink limits, leaving Chaosdramon as the last line of defense. As the leadership exits, a Digimon, Mekanorimon, drops from the sky, courtesy of the DigiPolice's mechanized forces. Satsuki, a DigiPolice member, reveals a classified device and resigns, intending to unleash a State Secret Digimon, Brigadramon. This Digimon, unlike Mekanorimon, is not meant to be piloted but operated as a tool. However, Satsuki handles both roles effortlessly. Omegamon appears, aiming to stop the gate cracking, and Satsuki engages it with Brigadramon in an attempt to keep Yulin safe, as Ryudamon stood a decent chance of becoming collateral damage. The situation intensifies as Omegamon counterattacks, but Kosuke unveils two additional Mega-level Digimon, which are promptly slashed by Omegamon. This completes the tripartite key, opening the backdoor with the Gateway cracked at 100%. Dorumon announces success, and Kosuke, Eiji, and the three prototype Digimon vanish from sight.
Chapter 4-6
Omegamon, burdened by the intrusion of the three humans into the Depths, expressed a powerful sigh of lament. Despite his duty to keep humans out, he leapt into the Gateway, disappearing from sight. Marvin, equipped with his collection tool, sprang into action. The tool efficiently gathered the half-frozen Chaosdramon and the two Mega-level sacrifices left by Tartarus. Meanwhile, Marvin focused on assisting his fallen comrades.
In a void beyond the Gateway, Kosuke, Eiji, and the restrained Yulin found themselves in a space with three-dimensional rendering power. Kosuke identified it as the Source Domain, a place born of ancient data, forgotten over time. Only old Digimon or those compatible with older standards, like the prototypes, could access it. Dorumon emphasized that even the Royal Knights were forbidden, making it a lost world outside their purview. The Source Domain held what they sought—the Sacred Chalice—in a forgotten temple with ancient administrative privileges. Yulin regained consciousness, and Loogamon signaled a reaction in the area they were exploring. The space began to shift and reconfigure, revealing something emerging.
Chapter 4-7
Tartarus reveals his ambitious plan to crack the Digital World's code temporarily, aiming to circumvent the Royal Knights and the system administrator for the sole purpose of saving Saya. He emphasizes the limited scope of his intentions, denying any desire to rule the Digital World permanently. Yulin strongly opposes human meddling in the Digital World, emphasizing the areas where humanity shouldn't tread. Meanwhile, three objects representing data, virus, and vaccine attributes begin to float, overlap, and merge in a complex pattern, forming a massive foundation that gradually rises, creating an intricate stone circle reminiscent of Stonehenge. As the stone blocks assemble themselves into a towering structure, Eiji observes its growth, perceiving it as an ancient outdoor amphitheater or arena. The ground transforms into a bowl shape with a central stage where three prototype Digimon and their hololized companions stand, surrounded by the towering stone circle.
Ryudamon questions Dorumon about his interest in Tartarus and Kosuke, to which Dorumon calmly expresses his loyalty and a desire to repay Tartarus's kindness. He aims to change the world and free the Digital World, despite the uncertain consequences. Tartarus reveals the syringe filled with data, explaining their plan to gain admin privileges for locating missing individuals in the infinite Digital World. Yulin, shocked, realizes Professor Ryusenji's involvement in Operation Tartarus. The stone circle glows with symbols, connecting the objects to their respective prototype Digimon through a mysterious language, but suddenly, the process shuts down, plunging the area into darkness. Eiji is left in awe, marking the first human presence in this uncharted part of the Digital World.
Chapter 4-8
In the midst of the critical moment, the source code decryption process abruptly halted. A familiar voice greeted them – Professor Ryusenji. Facing away from his students, he declared that he would take charge, revealing that the prototype Digimon were designed to access the Source Domain's data, with restraint tools already implanted. Yulin questioned the tampering with Ryudamon, to which the professor casually explained the research tools implanted in each Digimon and their Linkers. It became clear that the Digimon were always under DDL's control. The memories resurfaced for Loogamon, recalling their capture and the installation of restraint tools.
The professor revealed that decrypting the Source Domain's code had been his ultimate goal all along, emphasizing that as the foremost expert on the Digital World, he saw himself as the ideal person to usher in the next significant advancement in the field. Kosuke and Yulin discovered that the professor had covered up the accident to safeguard their futures, asserting that they owed him a favor for providing them with significant opportunities in life. As the professor decrypted the Source Domain's code, Pulsemon and even Black Agumon emerged, shocking everyone. Professor Ryusenji asserted control over the Source Domain's data and revealed a video feed of Saya, making them realize the truth – Saya was dead. The professor nonchalantly confirmed that Saya had been deceased for quite some time, shattering the illusion created by the video feed.
Chapter 4-9
In a tense revelation, Professor Ryusenji confirms the actual existence of the medical facility and the transfer of Saya, and debunking the footage of her. This revelation puts Kosuke in a state of disbelief, prompting him to hold the syringe containing medicine meant to awaken the consciousness of those DMIA inside their partner Digimon. Ryusenji warns of potential consequences, suggesting that if Saya's consciousness reawakens and finds no body to return to, it could lead to unforeseen outcomes. Professor Ryusenji acknowledges Kosuke as his prodigy and right-hand man, admitting to an elaborate deception. He confesses to using significant resources and connections to sustain the illusion of Saya's existence in Kosuke's mind, preventing him from succumbing to despair. This revelation unveils the intricacies of their relationship, with Ryusenji playing the role of the public face for Abadin Electronics, while Kosuke operates in the shadows as a skilled code cracker.
The professor then delves into the intricate concept of the Source Digimon, describing it as the foundational digital life form that coexisted with the creation of their world. This Source Digimon, akin to the Sacred Chalice of the Digital World, holds the potential to birth various Digimon forms when exposed to real-world data. Ryusenji discloses that his ultimate goal is to establish a mindlink with the Source Digimon, essentially becoming its human overseer. This revelation raises profound ethical, philosophical, and religious questions about the interference with such a fundamental entity in the Digital World. The scientist's insatiable curiosity, combined with personal tragedies like the failure of the Tartarus program and the loss of his daughter, seems to have propelled him toward increasingly extreme measures. Ryusenji's willingness to exploit his daughter's death and betray his own students for his ambitious goals exposes a darker side to his character. Moreover, it becomes apparent that Eiji's infiltration into the SoC was a calculated move to facilitate Loogamon's digivolution. Simultaneously, Eiji planned to leverage Ryusenji's fame and power to elevate his status as a code cracker within the Digital World, but he has changed now, thanks to the path he has walked.
Professor Ryusenji justifies Leon's sacrifice, explaining that Leon knew too much about his little lie and had become a risk due to his increased power. The professor expresses academic interest in the course of digivolution during the fight with Kazuchimon, prioritizing it over Leon's life. Loogamon and Eiji, through a mental connection, reaffirm their commitment to saving their friends. Loogamon reveals its ability to generate hellfire in response to foreign objects, explaining how it quickly broke free from the restraint tool. Professor Ryusenji acknowledges the delay in the decryption process caused by Loogamon's actions and hints at an impending challenge from Eiji and his Digimon, who are ready for a confrontation.
Chapter 4-10
Ryusenji, having completed the decryption of Dorumon's Data sector, now faces the challenge of Ryudamon's Vaccine sector, which is temporarily halted. Ryusenji, exploiting the mindlink between Kosuke and Dorumon, gains control over them, turning Dorumon into a pawn in the perilous chess game. Despite the professor's attempts to manipulate Eiji into joining his cause, the steadfast code cracker resists the allure of Ryusenji's offer. Eiji prioritizes the well-being of his friends and the freedom that comes with being a code cracker, rejecting the Faustian bargain proposed by the professor.
Meanwhile, the battle intensifies as Loogamon, Eiji's partner Digimon, evolves into Soloogarmon, reaching their Ultimate-level form. This powerful evolution sets the stage for a fierce confrontation with Dorugoramon, manipulated by Ryusenji's malevolent influence. Ryusenji's psychological warfare adds another layer of tension, referencing Eiji's painful past and attempting to exploit his vulnerabilities. As the battle rages on, Eiji employs tactical maneuvers, using smoke cover to protect his friends and gain a strategic advantage. However, Ryusenji adapts to the situation, recognizing Eiji's tactics and responding with calculated measures to regain control. In the midst of the digital turmoil, a pivotal moment occurs as Soloogarmon's protective instincts are triggered, leading to a transformative evolution. Fenriloogamon, a Mega-level Dark Beast Virus Digimon, emerges.
Chapter 4-11
Yulin observed as Eiji and Fenriloogamon engaged in battle from the safety of the stone circle. In this moment, Eiji understood that Leon's warning was not about interfering with the Source Domain but rather about the potential threat posed by Professor Ryusenji. Kosuke administered the medicine to Pulsemon, intending to revive Leon's consciousness. However, the results were peculiar. Leon's consciousness was revived within Pulsemon's DigiCore, creating a complex fusion. In their Ultimate form, Kazuchimon emerged, showcasing the effects of the DMIA recovery medication, which extended Leon's mindlinking time. Professor Ryusenji urged Leon and Kazuchimon to join him in defeating Eiji, leading to Eiji's desperate plea for Leon to resist. Leon, fused with Kazuchimon, was aware of the events that transpired in the Source Domain. However, the peculiar lack of separation between him and Pulsemon raised questions about the nature of their connection. Armed with a lightning-streaked blade, Kazuchimon confronted Professor Ryusenji, accusing him of crossing a line by meddling with Digimon lives.
As Professor Ryusenji continued decrypting the Source Domain, he reveled in his newfound control over one-third of its power. Unyielding in his pursuit, he intended to establish his dominion in both the Digital World and the real world. However, his actions took a dark turn as he attempted to download data directly from the Source Digimon into Dorugoramon. In this ambitious endeavor, Kosuke bore the brunt of the impact, experiencing violent convulsions and losing consciousness. The gravity of Ryusenji's actions became apparent as it risked not only the well-being of Digimon but also the emergence of the ominous Death-X-evolution.
Chapter 4-12
Professor Ryusenji unveils DexDorugoramon, a product of Death-X-evolution using Source Digimon data. DexDorugoramon triggers a poignant recollection for Eiji, reminiscent of the loss of his cherished dog to cancer. The parallels between the aging dog and DexDorugoramon, both succumbing to internal decay, evoke a vivid and emotional connection for Eiji. This abomination has multiple DigiCores inside, and Ryusenji explains that Dorumon's DigiCore is safe, with major functions paused, except for powering the interface. Ryusenji disabled Dorumon's security, making it a vessel without personality. This process led to Kosuke losing consciousness due to a critical error. DexDorugoramon, an Undead type, survives by utilizing the DigiCores of others, resembling a zombie. Eiji is alarmed, and Ryusenji revels in Death-X-evolution, considering it a step closer to the Source Digimon, portraying life as a perpetual state of death. Eiji and Leon discuss the impending threat of Professor Ryusenji fully decrypting the data and the potential danger if he gains control over the Source Digimon's power. DexDorugoramon, an autonomous program, is revealed to be part of Ryusenji's master plan: consuming prototype Digimon cores and serving as an all-purpose prototype Digimon, eliminating the necessity for cooperation.
Amidst internal conflict, Leon shares the profound impact Professor Ryusenji had on his life but recognizes the necessity of opposing a god-like figure. Despite being on different sides, Leon expresses belief in Eiji and his connection to Loogamon. Kazuchimon, a Mega-level Digimon, bestows its power upon Eiji in a transformative moment. It morphs into a thunder god's longsword, channeling the deity Takemikazuchi's power. DexDorugoramon’s ten wings formed a massive maw and opened wide, ready to swallow Fenriloogamon. This wasn’t the end. It was merely the beginning. Their sharpened blade struck the opening blow in a brand new story.
