Digimon Dreamers

Summary of the manga "Digimon Dreamers" by Yabuno Tenya from chapter 1 to 21:

Kodo Ritsu, an ordinary student, is mysteriously transported to an unknown world inhabited by the Digimon he was raising in a game in the real world, Pulsemon. The Cypress village, where this Digimon and many others live, is affected by a curse that prevents the Digimon from evolving beyond the Rookie level. Pulsemon, whom Ritsu was about to eliminate because of this very fact, his inability to evolve, is determined to become the most powerful Digimon at all costs, to protect his friends or out of pure ego, who knows. Finally, Ritsu agrees to help him since Digimon with a human partner have a higher chance of growth due to the bond created between them, as demonstrated in the past by other Digimon who partnered with humans. To achieve this, they must first find out how to lift the curse that haunts the villagers, and for that, they embark on an adventure where they encounter many Digimon and even another human who fights his own battles accompanied by a Wingdramon. Among them are Espimon, a Digimon that debuted in this manga before it joined the Ghost Game anime, Starmon, Deva Digimon like Sandiramon, and many more. Ritsu and Pulsemon's faithful companions are the wise Bokomon, the calm Patamon, and later joined by Tailmon from Withelny, a place they arrive at in search of information about the curse, as Witchelny is a parallel digital world centered on magic. They rescue Wizardmon, who, thanks to his friends Leomon and Tailmon had managed to escape from Witchelny to the Digital World to save himself from the fearsome attack of Phelesmon's "Demon's Shout," which is capable of hypnotizing and causing one to self-destruct. Wizardmon was in a state of amnesia, from which Pulsemon and Ritsu manage to bring him out, and together they return to Witchelny to save that world from the tyranny of Phelesmon. This villain had convinced its inhabitants, most likely using that mind control ability, that magic was very dangerous and should not be taught in schools or made available to anyone other than himself, thus closing the schools and library of the place. Pulsemon, who cannot evolve due to the curse but managed to do so partially, meaning his fists become those of Bulkmon, his Champion-level form, and then return to normal and his legs change, and so on. Although this method may seem surprising, the encouragement of his partner Ritsu and his strong will have made him victorious in all the encounters they have faced so far. However, this changes with Phelesmon and his henchmen, who are reinforced with magic, the tricks of Witchelny, especially Phelesmon, who combines his two special techniques to envelop himself in a dark armor that grants him unparalleled power. Phelesmon's objective is to merge both the real and digital worlds to rule them simultaneously, and seizing Witchelny's magic is just the means he has to achieve it since, as he explains, both worlds are formed by zeros and ones; the digital world is a binary world while the human world is formed by strings that are zeros when a string is stretched and ones when a string is closed. Faced with this, Pulsemon decides to gather courage and undergo the magical reinforcement, even though it is dangerous for his body, and Tailmon finally agrees to perform it. This allows him to resist Phelesmon's mind control attack and help Wizardmon, who was fighting against him, and bring him out of that state of mental derangement, but they are still far from defeating the evil Phelesmon. That is why Wizardmon decides to protect his world with his own life and intends to use a very powerful ancient ability called “Bolt Break” since Pulsemon's electricity attacks have been quite useful in stopping Phelesmon before. To do this, he must awaken the latent power of his Digicore as an X Antibody carrier, and it is something very dangerous that his body may not withstand. Ritsu stops him; it seems he has an idea. To be continued in chapter 22.
